Development

Developments- Surrealism

For this development i was trying to experiment with the composition for y final piece. Behind this development was in response to Julie Cockburns work with the triangles. I did mine in different ways because of the use of paint and also not as many small triangles as i used larger ones. I wanted to use larger ones as i thought it would be more linking to surrealism which i think was successful. i feel in this experiment it wasn't that successful, i did like my take on Cockburns work however i think triangles personally didn't look that good. Cutting out the triangles i used a ruler to make them all the right size and look level and even. I purposely wanted different sized to look different but now looking back to improve i would have done more with a smaller size as i feel this would have looked more tidy and sleek. Also to improve i probably wouldn't use all of the main features and leave a few to be shown by the photography then to see the differences between this and the paint.

Pencil experiment i produced was not my strongest development i feel like i didn't show of the features as well and with the model having bright hair, the pencil does not sure that as well as he features. i also sound it really hard to use pencil because of showing shading without colour so therefore needing different pencils to do this. To improve this i would of have to i think use more lighter tones with eyes and lips and not bold lines as then it would look more realistic. Although i do think the black and white would look good in a way with the final piece being mixed with photography, therefore the black and white and colour will look quite contrasting.

This is my experiment i eventually chose. I loved using paint because of
the mixing of colours where it was easy to make it realistic by doing shades and tones. I found that this made it look really realistic and would look really effective next to the photography for the final piece. By painting this i did have the photography work next to get an accurate draw then drew lightly with pencil lightly before using paint to not make a mistake. improve this i feel i would have used thinner brushes for smaller areas to make it more neat a persist. The main colours i used want pink, red, white and orange for skins colour, eyebrows, hair and lips then blue, white and blacks for eyes and jacket. These where easy colours to use and mix! I have always liked using paint but by doing this development it has made me more experienced with paint which i like!
